👤I've tried this sharpener a number of times before I make a decision. It gives a sharper finish to the knife. I looked at the edge after using magnification and it appears that removing metal from most of the edge is what it takes to achieve this. I want the manufacturer to confirm if this is the case. Should the tool be turned around and used again to get an even amount removed from both sides of the edge? The original edge design is not a one side sharpening. Users would be advised to check their knife manufacturer's website for the recommended edge angle. I have a knife that is 14 degrees per side, not the 20 degrees indicated by the Razor Sharp tool on the website. This tool can't handle the 10 degrees per side Asian style blades call for. Those are big differences. How is the edge achieved on one or two sides?
👤If you have a lot of knives, you need a variable sharpening angle. None of the knives that I had ever sharpened had been 7 to 18 years old. I was able to determine the appropriate sharpening angle for all but the cleaver after a bit of research. I have a Sunneko knife that does not have a setting for it. There is a If you want a quick edge, this is a great alternative to either professional sharpening or using whet stones.
👤I was a little skeptical at first. This sharpener was the one that won me over. It works well. I like to keep our set of high quality German kitchen knives sharp. It is easy with this device. A few strokes, light pressure, wipe and that is it. The tomato skin is cut as if it doesn't exist. The rubber pads on the bottom of the sharpener prevent it from sliding on the countertop. Nice touch! The purchase was worth the price.
👤This sharpener is backed by a company that is behind it. I was disappointed when I received a damaged sharpener. When I contacted Razor Sharp, they bent over backwards. I tried it out on a variety of knives after receiving a replacement. My knives are razor sharp because it works so well. Great product and company!
👤The tool is great for kitchen knives. I wouldn't use it on G10 or anything harder. It did a good job of making short work of the utensils. I think my Damascus steel hunting knives were too hard for it. I couldn't get a smooth draw with the harder blades. The knife would leave marks. The feature that adjusts the pitch is nice. I would feel bad if I returned it because my knives wore the abrasives down. I'll keep it for the older knives. I can use the feature on my tools.
👤I am very careful with my knives. I cook a lot and need my knives professionally sharpened a lot. I decided to try it on my own after moving to the suburbs and realizing how hard it was to find someone I trusted. The RAZORSHARP knife sharpener is what I needed. The product is simple. It is easy to use with the angles listed on the product so no need to memorize or read the instructions. The handle is easy to hold, but I wish it was thicker. The cloth cover is a bonus. I sharpened my in-laws knives and was able to cut through potatoes with ease.

👤It doesn't seem to level up when products are laid on a level surface The back of the handle and front side have a slight wobble. This should be important for this item as you are handling sharp objects. It takes some getting used to so be very cautious of handling the first few times. Sharpens pretty well. Will update in a few months.
👤I've used many knife sharpeners over the years, including whetstones, sharpening rods and the Edgemaker. The one I bought was the easiest to use and did the best job, but it was not the best one to use with scissors. If you enjoy wasting money and having dull scissors, don't try to sharpen them with this unless you enjoy ruining and having to replace several pairs of scissors. Forget the "satisfaction guaranteed" part. They never responded after 3 emails and a phone call from Muller trying to get them to make it right.
👤If you are looking for a product that will take your sharp blade and turn it into a dull blade, this is the product for you.
👤It's a good product. I have a full set of professional chef's knives that were made in Germany about 30 years ago, and I was going to tune it up, but I was waiting for fashion to catch up with me, so I just did it. The knife sharpener couldn't do the trick.
👤I am amazed at how sharp my knives are. Almost anything can besharpened. I was going to throw away my dull scissors, but now they are sharper. I have bad arthritis but my son didn't have any problems. It's a good buy and can be used for your outdoor tools too.
👤I bought some knives. I thought the ceramic knife sharpener was good. The knife was sharp when it was purchased. It is now dull after using this sharpener. I've read the instructions a few times but they haven't helped. The knife is dull. It has made a metal knife sharper.
👤The sharpener does what it is supposed to do. It makes knives sharper. I used all three slots on a dozen different blades and it worked great. Slot 2 sets the blade's bevel, slot 3 refines the edge, and slot 4 puts a finished edge on the blade. I don't rate scissor sharpener because I haven't used it. I have several different sharpeners, and this is the easiest and the best. Highly recommend it.
👤I have mixed feelings about this product. It can't sharpen my ceramic knives. It makes my steel knives sharper. The "coarse" slot is larger than the "medium" slot. I'm not going to return it, but I'm very disappointed.
👤The knife sharpener is pretty much the same as advertised. It's very easy to use and it's useful for sharpening scissors and knives in my kitchen. I would recommend it.
👤A very good tool. All my knives are sharp. Great purchase!
A sharpening tool. There are ceramic blades for fine honing and special tungsten carbide blades for scissors grinding. You need 3 parts to meet your sharpening needs. The strong prediction base. The product's force of attraction is twice that of other similar products. The sharpening process increases your safety. It's easy to use, just put it on a smooth desktop and press the black switch. It will suck very hard on the table. You can start sharpening the knife. You don't have to hold it with your hands. Your hand is very safe. You can hold it with one hand. You can conveniently store it in this small size. It won't take up a lot of space in the kitchen. Sharpal headquarters in CA, US with overseas branches in Germany and Australia aim to provide consumers with an easy and cost-effective way to obtain a sharp edge. It was manufactured and field-tested to the highest standards.
👤I think this product is worth five stars. I was worried that this would be a poor quality product, but it turned out to be very good. The flat surface has a very strong suction cup. When you use it, I will give you some advice. It will suck better if you add liquid. I use a spray to clean it. Good results! If you have good skills, you can use it in a vertical position. It has 3 stations that are incomparable to other similar products. It has a grooves of the metal. Excess metal can be removed from your knife with the help of a hard metal. You can use a very blunt knife. This product has a ceramic edge. The texture of the ceramic is very delicate. The ceramic slot won't hurt your knife, you can use it to grind your knife. I like the function of its sharpening scissors. The function of this grinding scissors is not found in any of the sharpeners I have. My scissors become very blunt when I use them in the kitchen. It has become even sharper.
👤This is a great product. I have one arm. It's difficult to sharpen a knife with only one arm because you can't hold it down without something, and this one works great because it's cups to the counter or smooth surface, and it's saved me from many accidents.
👤They only use ceramic rods to edge scissors when I look at a scissor sharpener. Don't cut it with leather shears or kitchen scissors. The cutting edge on scissors is put on by this sharpener. It has a ceramic edger and a rough repair tool for knives. It's a great tool for the money, but not an electric sharpener, it's just a one horses rear end power. It does its job.
👤I am an activity director at a senior living facility and a craft nerd. I own a lot of scissors. At least 20. I am on a tight budget and they get dull over time. A few months ago, I tried another brand. This one is far superior to that one. I like the control I have on the blade to make it sharp. It only took me a few minutes. I'm curious to see if anyone comments on the cutting ease at our next class.
👤What a shock. I didn't think it would do the job when I received it. It was a surprise. The counter was getting cluttered. I had to twist it a bit to get it off. I have a lot of things. Everything I threw at it was sharpened in a very short time. I was blown away. The little sharpener is small and it took me several hours to sharpen everything in the house, but it did an outstanding job and I have lots of places to store it.
👤I already have 3 knife sharpeners, but none of them do a good job at sharpening scissors. I saw this product and thought I would try it. I'm impressed. They worked on my scissors after I followed the online instructions. I'm very pleased with the results of sharpening 4 pairs of scissors. I didn't try this product on hair shears or sewing shears, but I would give it a "B+" for regular everyday scissors. I now have sharp scissors. I will have to wait and see how long this product lasts. Hopefully, this product will keep sharpening my scissors.
There is a lifetime guarantee with 100% tested. Visit KotaJapan to get in touch with their friendly Customer Service in Arizona or use the Amazon order screen. Chef's knife sharpening is a 3-stage process for super sharp edges. Diamonds are used in all three stages. The initial stages use 100 percent diamond abrasives while the third stage polishes the edge with smaller diamond abrasives. Straight edge knives, sports and pockets knives, and other knives can be sharpen. Chef'sChoice's advanced CrissCross sharpening technology uses diamond abrasive wheels to deliver an extremely sharp edge by using a burr-free edge. It is easy to use - the angle control creates sharp edges. The sharpening and honing stages are separated for a sharper, arch-shaped edge. The Soft Touch handle is comfortable for an easy and secure grip. It is convenient and compact.
👤I am a retired chef and have always used a sharpening stone tosharpen my knives. The device is quicker and sharper than the old one. When using the unit, be sure to exert downward pressure and use more strokes than they recommend. I recommend wiping the knife clean after each step and cleaning the blade before using it.
👤I had the ChefsChoice model # 463 for Asian knives and was not happy with it until I found out that I was using it wrong. I found out from one of the reviews that these sharpeners require a sawing motion to sharpen knives. I downloaded the.PDF instructions because I didn't have the user instructions handy. The sharpener worked well when I used it correctly. I decided to order a sharpener that works for both Asian and Euro knives. I have an electric sharpener that has good reviews, but these hand sharpeners seem to work more effectively, and they are much more useful. I tried out the sharpener on some of the steak knives we have. I could not have cut my finger on them. These knives were razor sharp and passed the paper test, even though they took 20 and 10 turns on the Euro/American slot and polishing slot, respectively. I used the Asian slot and the polishing slot on the most used Shun knife to try out the sharpener. The knife was restored to its former state. The electric one seems to do a worse job of sharpening knives than this one. You need to keep in mind that you need to put 4-5 pounds of pressure on the knife as you sharpen it, if you decide to get this sharpener. The one-directional motion used for most sharpeners is not good for sawing. If you use it correctly, you will be able tosharpen your dullest knives. I have been using this sharpener for about 2 years, and it still sharpens my knives as well as the day I bought it. I know that some people prefer sharpening stones or rods, but you have to make sure you use them at the right angle. If you don't, you can damage the knife's blade. I only use the correct slot for the type of knife I am honing and polishing when using this knife sharpener. I have to be careful when sharpening a knife. I don't cut myself. When I was in a hurry, I lightly touched the blade of the knife on my hand or finger, but didn't realize I had cut myself until I saw the blood. I hope the review helped you. If my opinion changes, I will update this review.
👤You can get great use out of this sharpener if you read the manual. You can see my experience with the video if you watch it. I've tried this on half a dozen knives and have not experienced any issues with the blade getting scratched. I think they were angling the blade too much and didn't read the manual before using it.
Measures 12 by 6-1/6 by 6-2/6 inches. The Trizor edge has strength and durability that is combined with the XV technology. It takes approximately 1 minute for first time sharpening and resharpening. It's ideal for converting the factory edges of household knives into high performance Trizor XV edges. The perfect edge for each cutting task is provided by the 3-Stage EdgeSelect system and the patented flexible spring guides. Diamonds and advanced stropping stage are used for sharpening. The Trizor XV Edge is so sharp you can easily apply it. Straight edge and serrated knives are included in the American-, European-, and Asian-style knives. The factory edge is converted into a Trizor 15-degree edge.
👤I am still very happy with the Trizor. I have not had tosharpen my knife. I run it through the polishing guides and it is perfect again. I have resharpened my pocket knife once, but I put it through a lot and it's no surprise. My friend is a chef. He loved sharpening his knives. His knife was not his sushi knife. After almost 2 years, I still recommend the Trizor. I bought this sharpener after a long time of research. The Chefs Choice 120 was a 15 year old. It wasn't worth it, even though Chefs Choice will make it 888-282-0465, but with shipping both ways, insurance and accumulated points, it wasn't worth it. I'm happy I did. My everyday knives are a 20 y/o Henkel Santoku and a 13 y/o Kyocera Ceramic Chef. I like my knives sharp. I push the knife through the cash register receipts to see if it is sharp. I wanted to try the 15 but was happy with the 20 edge. The 15 is better. The 15 seems to have less drag than the other one. I was worried about losing a lot of metal in the conversion, but it wasn't an issue. I used a cheaper knife to get used to the new machine. The guides are better than the 120. I like that there is less room for play. I used the same method tosharpen my Santoku and 3 inch pocket knife. I can't say which edge lasts longer, but I will try to update this review in a few months. I wanted to show the sharpness of my product after the Trizor.
👤I am very pleased with the knife sharpener. I have a large collection of knives. I bought a Victorianox8" chef's knife after reading a review of it in Cook's Illustrated. The Victorianox is a stamped knife, which is a lot lighter in weight than my Wusthof knife, so I usually use it for tasks that don't require me to hit the top of the blade. I was impressed with how sharp it was, and how sharp it stayed. Having a thinner edge like an Asian knife, instead of a thicker one as my German knives had, made a difference that was easily seen. After reading a knife sharpener review in Cook's Illustrated, where it was the top rated one, I decided to sharpen my German knives to that thinner edge. My knives have never been sharper because the Trizor accomplished that quickly and easily. I highly recommend it.
👤I wanted to avoid buying a new knives set. I am very happy that I did. I was able to easily sharpen my knives and I am almost afraid of using them. If you have dull knives for a while, you get sloppy in the way you hold them or if the blade touches your skin. You will need to be more careful with the Chef'sChoice Trizor XV EdgeSelect Professional. I saved my knives because of this sharpener. The device is very effective.
There is a knife sharpener and instructions manual. The edge on knives is maintained with the help of 12 Sharpening Steel. The steel rod is made of carbon steel. The handle has a hanging hole. Use a damp cloth to wipe clean. It's the best choice for chef using Dull Knifes.
👤I needed a replacement for my 10 inch rod. I don't need to do it the safe way with the tip against my chopping block, I can use a knife in my other hand and cross this with a flourish. The carbon steel makes a noticeable difference compared to my old steel. I couldn't resist the price of the old one, but I suppose I could have just made due with it. Sorry couldn't resist the joke about the bad dad.
👤The title was a bit misleading. This is not a honing rod. The rod has taken on a lot of rust in less than 2 months of use. I use this daily since I got it. I have been cleaning this every day. "You get what you pay for" is a classic case. It's not that bad for use at home, aside from the rust. This was very good for the money when it was brand new. I would recommend it to someone who uses it a few times a month. This is a COURSES rod so be careful not to hone with too much force or you could damage your knife edge. I had to use a wet stone to bring that back to life. If you decide to get this, you should clean it well and oil after every use.
👤I've never had one of these before in my kitchen, but I'm an experienced sharpener and have a wood lathe, so I'm interested in wood working. I've sharpened everything from old-school cross cut saws to chainsaw chains. I've been missing out on one of these because I don't have one in my kitchen, but the product is sturdy, well made and works great. It does leave a rougher final edge than I expected, but that is something I can deal with and also means that you can get a good edge on a really dull knife. Any foodie is a must-have kitchen item.
👤Wow! I like this thing. I don't have time to use a sharpening stone and one of the sharpeners that you use to run your blade through. A knife company recommened a honing rod for home use after a news interview, and even showed how to use it. I use the most of my knives. Simple for an old lady.
👤It does what you expect. This kind of tool can be used properly.
👤This is one of the best sharpeners I've used. It works well for me. I like the length. It is the longest one I have ever used and that makes it safer. I'm happy with it so far.
👤The old wusthof was no longer working. I was going to try an Amazons choice. Mistake. The quality of manufacturing was flawed and it was half the price. You could feel the steel hit when you pulled the knife towards you. Not as smooth as the wustfoh. If it is necessary. Don't cheap out.
👤Straighten out knife blades and make them sharper. I sharpen my knives, but they get dull after a while. They get slightly warped with use. They are straightened out with a few "slices" on each side. My knives are like magic when slicing through tomatoes. The 12-inch is long enough to give room to slice the knives back and forth. It is very sturdy and feels like it will last forever.
It's easy to fit a compact size in a drawer. Their space-saving design keeps your knives sharp. The metal fixed-angle edge sharpener has a metal blade fixture that holds the blade firmly and safely. The material of the sharpener is highly durable and long lasting. Their enhanced knife sharpener has an innovative flip fixture structure that allows you to flip over your blade and sharpen the other side with a deviation of 2. The screw on the vertical rod can be removed to adjust the angle. There is attention! Measure APP is available for download if your phone doesn't have a tool to set the angle. safety The handle on your sharpening tool is constructed with safety in mind, it will not hurt your hand when you push the stone back and forth tosharp your knife. 10 Premium Quality Whetstones. 6 stones with base are included in the Edge Sharpening Kit, as are 4 stones without base. The rougher surface is suitable for repairing a wide range of knives and tools. Fine grinding and very sharp blades can be done with the higher surface of the knife. S30V steel is hard enough to grind. You don't have to use expensive sharpening/honing oils. It's perfect for honing different kinds of knives, from chef's knives to hunting knives. You will get a razor-sharp edge in a few seconds. Guarantee If you receive broken stones, please contact them, they will give you a replacement, don't worry!
👤I want to make it clear that this does work. This is not for you if you don't know how tosharpen knives by hand. You have to be careful not to damage the stones. The stones are not labeled. The 1500 is closer to 1200 or 1000. If you don't have a stone fixer, you can't use the stones because they are coated with a coat of top coat, which seals them in just like a new wetstone. You will need an allen key which is not provided and it is 100% required to get every thing tight enough to use it. Since this does not come with a polishing stone, you will need to use a regular stone or something in the 3000- 5000 range, which will likely be miss labeled. If you can't finish the job, then no problem for me, I already have all the stones and things to do it by hand. You need to keep these wet while using them. This is a big flaw in the design. You can keep them wet, but you are going to make a lot of bug mess on the floor. We prefer not to make a mess in a professional kitchen. This will save your skin, but it might be worth it. Ameteurs stay away and destroy the stones.
👤This is a good setup to get a precise angle on a blade. Which is the point of the operation. The instructions aren't the best, so you help if you know what you're doing. The setup can get in its own way when changing sharpening stones, which one has to do over and over to get from coarse to fine. If I had the option, I would have dropped that half star. The stone is kept at a precise angle by the sturdy construction. One still has to maintain proper pressure and keep the stone level to the edge, but that will come with practice for those who are new to knife sharpening. Don't use a $300 Santoku as your first test subject. There were two sets of sharpening stones that I had. There is a set of 4 plain stones. There are 6 stones on a plastic base that is from 180 to 3000 grit. There are replacement sets that can go up to 10,000 grit. This is a good set to start sharpening your knife.
👤The device is helpful for the price, but there are a couple of things that need to be understood. I think the included grits are too low. Unless your knife is really dull, you should probably start with an 800 or 1000 grit knife. If you are using a 400 or 240 grit, you may be taking too much steel. The blade of my kitchen knives was marred by the clamps. Fortunately they are old and I don't care much, but I would be careful with a pretty blade. Maybe masking tape on the blade would help. I get inconsistent results when using a whetstone, but I would love to be an expert. This is a cost effective way to get consistency.
Professional results can be achieved with the Three Stage Sharpening system. The Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener is an angle guided, 3-sided abrasive jig-and-clamp style sharpener that makes manual sharpening faster, easier and more precise than ever. Sharpening angle can be adjusted from 15 to 30 in 1. The diamond and ceramic stone can be quickly index. The V Block Clam is a knife securer.
👤I opened the box and submitted a review. I came back to revise my review after using this sharpener. I would give a negative star. I have a lot of things, including Japanese wet stones, Sharp-Maker, DMT Diamond plates, WorkSharp Ken Onion and WorkSharp Original. That is what being said is. I was expecting this to be a good starter kit. The concept is good. The lack of rigidity is what the Achilles Heal is about. During the sharpening process, the knife clamp is easy to move. It is not mechanically attached to the frame, but held with a couple magnets, which will ruin the secondary bevel on your blade. Work Sharp's other products have been great. This item can hurt your blade. Don't buy this unit until Work Sharp fixes the bugs. Just my 2 cents worth, from the $1,000 Tormek to the Spyderco Sharp-Maker.
👤I got mine today. It feels good and is easy to use. I've chewed through all of the steels that I've sharpened so far. Better in every way than a random field sharpener. This feels like it would be a lot better than your KMEs and ViperSharps. Absolutely recommend. I'd like to see them roll out a more complete stone set, with a strop, a really coarse stone for stock removal, and a diamond option to supplement the ceramic. I'm very excited for expansions on the platform.
👤I watched a video about the person who designed the sharpener and bought it. I liked the simplicity of its design and the ease of use, but most of all I liked the price. I was hesitant at first because I owned a Ken Onion Edition Knife and tool sharpener, but I returned it after trying to sharpen only one blade. If you're like me and have difficulty holding a steady angle and moving the blade across the abrasive in a smooth motion, it can cause the blade edge to get hot and discolored. Most of the sharpeners I have looked at are more expensive than the basic design. I've used The Razor Edge System for years and have yet to find a better one. The four pieces of this sharpener are easy to assemble without instructions. It is very portable because of its size. The abrasive grades can be used for a quick edge clean up or to put a fast and easy edge on a dull knife. The angle adjustment is easy, but I just set the abrasive on the knife edge and looked at it from the side to make my adjustments. If you have an established edge, the sharpie technique would work just as well. The pocket knife was held firmly by the clamps. You can flip the knife over and back with a push of the button on the back of the case. If I could make any changes to the sharpener, it would be: 1 - Make the abrasives a little wider. It's easy to roll the abrasive plate at a 1/2 inch wide. The abrasive rod fit needs to be tightened. There is a small amount of play in the rod when moving the abrasive holder. The blade flip push button should be easier to use. I had to use both hands to depress the button out of the box because it would loosen up over time. The design of the sharpener, ease of use, and affordable price make it a great choice.
Not all sharpening stones and strops are created equal. Premium quality material is imported and source for the manufacturing of Whetstone and Strop. No compromise on quality. Everyone from stay at home moms to professionals use this tool. The professional kitchen knife sharpener has 3 steps, 1Fine Sharpening Slot with ceramics for polishing, and 2 Coarse Sharpening Slot with steel blades for sharpening old knife edge. The antiskid TPR base makes the kitchen knife sharpener easy to hold and avoid accidental injury. Wanbasion kitchen knife sharpener has a handle that is either Right or Left-handed. Whether you're right or left-handed, the kitchen knife sharpener professional 3 stages is easy to use. Simply place the dull blade on the sharpening slot and enjoy razor-sharpness. It'sHINT: If you want to get the best effect out of this professional kitchen knife sharpener, you need to sharpen your knife with one direction only. The kitchen knife sharpener is an application. Most kitchen knives have a professional knife sharpener working on them. The kitchen knife sharpener is built with high-quality plastic and diamond abrasives. It is strong, durable and designed to last a lifetime. The kitchen knife sharpeners should be straight and serrated.
👤It is very easy to use. I didn't have good knives to cut meat or fish. It took a lot of hard work to be able to cut it. All my knives are very sharp.
👤The little sharpner has saved my life. I used to use a couple of knives to cut meat with bones. There were some chips that were dull when I did that. I got those knives back to better looking conditions. You can use the stages based on how dull your knives are.
👤I used this tosharpen my knives for about a month. This is the second pair of this type that I have gotten. I was hoping that another would work better. I received a gift many years ago that I have had a sharpener for. It is almost 50 years old. The old and still works well. I tried new things because it was a bit of work. I thought they would be just as good. I have gotten these two times and they stink. I will never buy them again because I wasted money on them. It was back to the old.
👤I have a knife set from the kitchenaid that seems to work well with this sharpener. I also have a heavy duty restaurant level Sam's club knife that doesn't seem to respond to the sharpener at all. I took one star out because of that. This is a great tool if your knife is on the softer side.
👤I use Japanese water stones tosharpen my knives. I bought this for guests in a rental who didn't want to trust them with the stones. It works well. I was surprised. It's unavailable for the moment.
👤It looks classy, it's easy to use, very stable and fits comfortably in your hand, I used it on my old knife and it works better than expected, just be aware the tungsten piece use it very light, don't press too much the knife on it because you could Totally recommended.
👤One of the pictures shows a glove. I didn't receive it. It was not in the box. There wasn't any room for it. Also that. The sharpener works.
👤I have used a built-in sharpener on my knife block for the past 10 years. I thought I would compare the edge from the new sharper to the old one. This thing is very aggressive. Only 2 or 3 easy strokes on each of the three progressive stones can produce a razor sharp edge. I told the wife to not touch the edge because it will slice through anything.
👤I've been using a similar type of knife sharpener for a while. It was fine. I didn't feel that it made my knives sharp. My first impressions of this sharpener were good, it's well made and has a feeling of quality. My knives felt less sharp after using this product. After giving my least favourite knife a thorough session on the coarsest of the three slots, I followed this up with more work on the medium slot and finished off on the fine slot. It worked. The cutting edge created by the old sharpener was not perfect. The old knife is now very sharp thanks to the new Wanbasion sharpener. I need to spend some time with my other knives. I am very pleased with this device.
The rubber base keeps the sharpener stable. ANGLESELECT is a method of slicing using a traditional 20 degree edge or a 15 degree edge. Their diamond abrasives are made from the hardest natural substance on the planet. The arch-shaped edge is formed by 2 distinct facets set at different angles. Patented stropping disks deliver an unparalleled polished knife edge. The diamond angle guides ensure accurate sharpening throughout the entire edge.
👤The best sharpener I have ever had is this one. I was so tired of the little hand held jobs that I only used sharp knives that had a good straight edge. The sharpener took my dull knives and turned them into pieces. I had to use the full routine on my knife to remove some of the metal, then use the band to hold it in place. When I took it from the drawer, it was burrs, but when I cut it, it was silk and better than new. I have a thick knife that has a wobbly edge. It was dull. A few days on the full routine and I am in love with it again. I was able to put a sharp edge on it. I use it a lot for cutting raw chicken and the bones, it cuts it like butter. You don't realize how much time you waste trying to use dull knives. The cutter used to be so dull that it took about an hour or more to cut the chicken. I breeze through it in about 10 minutes. I don't dread the chore anymore. I keep it on my counter and use it frequently when I see a knife that isn't cutting as well as it should. It takes me 30 seconds to bring it back to its previous state. We had so many knives, none of which had been sharpened correctly. After sharpening our knives, Husband flipped the first one he used. I warned him that they were sharp and that he should be extra careful, but he came running into the other room and told me how he cut a tomato like butter. I don't know if he or I was happier. If you have a dull or wobbly knife, don't waste your money on less feature models. You need the features this one has. We all have different knives. Once you do a good job sharpening your knife, you can bring it back to life. The life of your knives can be extended by using the strap band instead of the grinder. The grinder takes off metal to form the edge, while the band hones the edges and removes burrs that make a knife dull. The manual should be read. It's easy to understand and grasp the concept of when to use the 15 degree, when to use the 20 degree, and when to use the band. I chose this manufacturer over another that was less expensive because of the double warranty. I wanted all the warranty I could get if I was going to put out so much cash. Would I buy it again? You bet, in a heartbeat! I hope this is helpful to people considering purchasing a knife sharpener.
👤I have a set of very good German steel knives that I have had for about three years and were starting to get a little dull despite the constant honing of the blades. I read up on whetstones and electric knife sharpeners and chose this model because my knife set includes Santoku kitchen knives. The sharpener was designed to handle all of them. The owners manual will show you how to use the sharpener. My wife is very impressed with how well the knives slice and dice and chop now that I have professional-quality sharp edges on all of them. The only thing I dislike about this sharpener is that it is the same one I used with their model 316. The sides of the knives could not be wiped off or polished because of the sharpener. The 1520 is doing the same thing to my knives. I will contact their customer service dept. To find out how to fix the problem. I haven't read of this problem before, but I need to find a way to stop the marring of my good kitchen knives with the two separate electric sharpeners made by them. I gave the 1520 only four stars because of this one problem, but I highly recommend this sharpener.

👤I like the Ken Onion Work Sharp. I bought it because I wanted to learn to do it freehand and not ruin my knives. The first knife I tried on the Work Sharp was a brand new Ontario Knives Rat-1, an inexpensive, well-made knife with a pretty AUS-8 finished blade. I was able to make a beautiful mirrored edge in a few minutes. The metal particles that come off the edge during sharpening build up on the angle guides, and I produced a lot of scratches on that pretty AUS-8 finish. You get scratches when you pull the knife through. I don't mind if my knives get damaged. I can't see how defacing them would be possible. It's not necessary. A quick search of the forums confirmed that others have experienced the same problem. I decided to use painters tape on a different knife to protect it. The problem was solved with a perfectly sharp edge in minutes. This method is suggested by other sharpeners like the Apex Edge Pro. It would have been nice if the Work Sharp people did the same. The Work Sharp is a great little machine that is a good price, if you want to try the convex edges. I suggest you read the instructions carefully and taping the sides of your blades. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.
👤This will bring back the life to our kitchen knives. The instructions are very easy, this could be why people make mistakes. I prefer the ones on the cardboard table, as they are the ones that are the most detailed on how tosharpen a blade. My husband and I didn't need to buy new kitchen knives or take them in on occasion since this system already paid for itself. The construction is very solid and can turn the most novice knife sharpener into a pro. If you want to have razor sharp knives on a moment's notice, this will surpass your expectations. The old saying is that a dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one. A razor sharp blade is not as easy to use as a sharpened blade. After sharpening with this system, be very careful with your knives, they will be scary in a pleasant way. I've picked up a few tips that have helped me sharpen my blades quickly and precisely. I peel masking tape over the edge of the blade to make a silhouette. I put the silhouettes back on and reveal the blade where it will make contact with the belt. This protects the blade while learning how to use it. 2. The real skill is when to let go of the Trigger so that it doesn't grind more on the tip of the blade than the recommended 1 inch per second and maintain proper contact with the belt. 3. It can make a mess, after sharpening 8 or so blades I noticed my dining table was covered in shavings. It was to the right of the sharpener. I put it to the left of the kitchen sink because I wanted to make sure there was no water or something on the counter. This made it easy to clean up the mess. 4. If you're like me and you're wearing eye protection, the left grind shoots debris straight up in your face if the knife is properly inserted and pulled. It would be really bad to get that in your eyes after sharpening your knives. I wish I had a face mask for the first marathon since you will be looking and making excuses to sharpen every blade in the house to make it pass the paper test. 5. The main difference between a pocket knife and a kitchen knife is the angle, since they both use the same main 3 belt grits. I separate my kitchen and pocket knifes and use the same belts for both of them, even if I have a sharpening marathon. The angle degree is the only thing I change. This helps speed up the process by not having to change everything out for each pile. 6. Losing count or what side went in last is the best way to ruin your edge. My method is to use odd numbers on the right side and even numbers on the left side to remember where to start. If it calls for 10 I count to 20 total. I go to the right until I reach 10 and it's a good time to check for burrs. The right side of the system will start at 11. I have yet to notice burrs occurring, thus speeding through the process precisely. I wouldn't have spent the time to write this if I didn't think this Worksharp was good.
