The materials are recycled. The item is made from recycled materials. The blue glass mason jar has details. There are metal flower feeding ports. A base with circular perch is galvanized metal. It holds 32 ounces of nectar.
👤The galvanized metal makes it easier for birds to eat it. I'm taking mine down because it's too late to come back. The Hummingbirds don't like it very much. Thank you for your review of metal base to hummingbirds. I would not recommend purchasing this product. The base of the pan appears to be galvanized, which means it is covered with zinc to prevent it from rusting. If that is the case, that zinc will be toxic to birds. I returned mine because of this. Birds are prone to toxicity from feeders containing copper. Red dye in hummingbird food is associated with birth defects. The same thing as using a mixture of sugar and water without the harmful dye, but with a 1:4 mixture of sugar. Since you probably don't intend to harm the birds you are trying to help, I would advise choosing different products. If you've already purchased these products, I would recommend throwing them away. You won't see the dead hummingbirds, but you may be killing them off without realizing it. It wouldn't last long enough to prevent the hazard if they put a clear coating over the metal. It's a bad material for a nice feeder. 35 of 36 people found this review helpful.
👤Shame on you, Perky-Pet. Be careful! The feeders can kill hummingbirds. I bought the feeders this summer after reading positive reviews. I missed the warnings about the issue of the galvanized steel base or these reviews weren't posted back then. The metal base has an adverse reaction with hummingbirds and other people have had the issue. When I dropped it, I bought this particular feeder to replace it. The metal base looked better than the plastic one and I was drawn to it. The large-mouthed mason jar is easy to clean. The feeders attracted the same number of hummingbirds but they flew away when they tasted the food. I use the standard 4:1 water to sugar ratio and have always attracted a large number of hummingbirds. The hummingbirds never fed from the feeders when I tried changing my recipe and method. I discovered a dead hummingbird beneath the feeders last week. I went back to read the warnings of other owners. If hummingbirds aren't feeding, I want to warn others that they shouldn't use this feeders. Some of us may have gotten a bad production run as other reviewers really like the feeder. I think Perky-Pet owes it's customers an explanation and a warning. Pros Attractive - clean lines, not too ornate, contemporary look Durable - metal base won't crack or break if dropped during cleaning Easy to clean Capacity - jar holds large quantity of nectar Cons Toxic - metal base creates zinc poisoning resulting in nectar that is Death can be caused by too much zinc poisoning.
👤I was happy to see a hummingbird feeders. Couldn't wait to set it up because of its looks and capacity. After watching my hummers try to feed from it, I found out that I was avoiding it. I thought it was the color of the flowers white and yellow but when I looked more closely, it was made of galvanized metal and it tasted funny when added to the base. I was surprised that the pet came out with a galvanized base, it was a sensitive hummer. I think the base would be better if it were painted, powder coated or plastic. The pet was contacted via email and phone and left a review. The pictures were sent to the galvanizing. The review was not allowed on the web sight. It didn't seem to care about the problem. I had as many as a dozen hummers coming to my two other feeders, which I left in place. I have about 3 to 4 left. I am not saying that this chemical reaction had anything to do with this. I still have MIA hummers. Update: 2-2-15... You can see on the comments that the pet was concerned about the customer. After speaking with them 3 times, I reluctantly sent the feeders back to them, but it cost me a lot of money and time to box it up and drive it to the store, so I told them to ship it back to me. It was several months ago. I haven't recried an email, exchange, or phone call yet. Beware of a dog. They don't care about the product they sell. There is an update of 2-7-14. I told the customer service rep that I had explained the situation in my review. They let me pick out afeeder that was the same price and would ship it asap. The feeder came low and behold. They wanted me to take down my negative post. It took nearly 8 months to resolve this issue, so I think it's time to leave it up.
The product includes a hummingbird feeders. The material is high- impact and has a red base. It's easy to fill a wide mouth. Bee guards protect the supply. ants are kept away by a built in ant moat.
👤Birds like it. The feeding area started leaking after 3 or 4 days. Tightened it once. Not enough. Today was hard. Enough to think I was going to break it. It turned about 1 1/2 times more. It's terrible if you want to hang. The hook was bent ahead of time. Twice to keep it from coming out. I looked after second torking still leaking. 9 or 10 bucks were wasted. To little to return the favor. 7 days later. About 10 more wraps of Teflon Silicone are taken by plumbing professionals. Appears to be holding for 4 hours. We will see. I hated to throw it away, but I thought the Teflon tape was holding up. The Teflon tape was taken off. Duct tape was used. Nope. It was used close to the top. Nope. I was going to make a hole in the cork. Don't know tried to stop leaking. Not a great dedign. There is one more possibility. A small amount inside Dia. The ring was sold on Amazon. The swimming pool hose is also used. On Amazon for 10, there is a price of 4.47. Don't need 10. I like the birds and the feeders. The o ring goes between the main body and the bottom. Didn't work. Tin foil was tried. It seems to stop the leaking. Tin foil reflects heat. I will use contact cement if this works. Just open it and fill it and put it back on. The red absorbs the sun's rays. It wouldn't happen if it was white. It was thrown in the trash. Couldn't stop the leaking. Enough time was wasted.
👤It's all red and has rests for hummers. Bee proof too. If it falls, it won't shatter. It can be hung from a hook on a window. I was checking all my boxes when I was looking for a window feeder. This is not a top-loading feeder. I was looking at a glass version. One of the flowers was missing. There's no option for Amazon to support this product because Perky Pet has not responded to my email requesting a replacement flower. I assumed the missing flower would not be a big deal since I was hanging it from a window. I used something I had around the house to cover the hole, but it leaked a little when it blew in the wind, but it was fine. The other flowers have leaked to the point where this item is a waste of time. The windowsill and wall underneath my feeders are covered in a sticky mess that has not drawn ants. The flowers join on to the feeders. They don't do anything by rotating them. I wouldn't buy this again. It was everything I wanted. It didn't have a flower. Perky Pet is unresponsive about a replacement. It leaks like crazy. Would not buy again.
👤After opening the box, I took the hummingbird feeders apart to clean them before using them. I thought the neck was part of the design, even though my other feeders are straight. I washed it and put it in a container. The side that sits lowest has a bent neck. I am not sure if this was damaged or a faulty design. I was very unhappy with the results.
Different area's hummingbirds may have different preferences. They guarantee that your hummingbirds will enjoy the feeders within 30 days. They will process a refund without you returning it. The hummingbird feeders has a 16 ounce capacity. There is a built-in moat that prevents flying into the feeders. Hanging bird feeders can be hung on a tree in the garden. The plastic cover is easy to open and clean. Juegoal wild bird feeders have a quality guarantee.
👤During the peak season, we feed hummers a gallon of nectar every 3 days. The original round version of this feeder is the easiest to clean and the easiest to fill, and that is what we found when we used the round version. We decided to add 3 more feeders this year as the components and construction looked similar to the other brand, but less expensive. At half the cost, they work just as well. This is the one you want if you are a beginner or just someone who hates the hassle of cleaning and filling hummingbird feeders. You don't need to spend over $30 for a 16 ounce design.
👤I bought 2 feeders based on reviews and the Amazon Choice status. I like the hanger and the feeder is sturdy. The included material tells you to refill when the level drops to one-half, which means that only one cup of liquid can actually be accessed by hummingbirds before a refill is necessary. We had to hover around the feeders just like the little birds so that we could refill them when they reached half-full. We went back to our old feeders. The product description says otherwise, but ants found their way into the feeders.
👤I like the size and it doesn't leak like top loading feeders. I painted the flowers yellow. Not really necessary... I liked it better. I ordered two feeders. Only one came with a piece of furniture. The ceiling hook needs to be wedged into a pole to not flop and spill. I couldn't find a long hook that was similar to the one I should have had. I live in Costa Rica so I don't need to ask the company to send one.
👤Huge mistake! My Hummingbirds drink so fast that the level would get down to 1/2 full within an hour requiring me to refill, which is very difficult and messy to do. I bought two feeders to replace the ones I have used for years because there were so many good reviews. This is the first time I have been led down the wrong path by the reviews. I would have liked to try out only one of these, so I could get a refund. It's a waste of money and time. The feeders do not function. I'm going to order my feeders now. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I have to.
👤The hummingbird population has gotten big. I have to refill feeders every day. I don't want to give a good review of the Jugoals, but they do work well. I got some Best-1 upright feeders with a 32 ounce capacity to try to not refill the feeders so often. I've never tried an upright feeder. They didn't work well. The hummers were a lot more nervous about feeding together because the holes are closer together. They preferred the upright and saucer feeders. I am sticking with the saucers after giving up on the upright feeders. I have a number of ounces. I use my 16 oz ones the most. I own 3 Juegoal and 2 Hummzinger. The Juegoal is a bit less well built and tilts to one side when the feeder is less than a couple of ounces. That's not much of a problem. The Juegoal has an advantage over the Hummzinger. The Hummzinger is more expensive than the other one. I think it was cheaper a few years ago, but not anymore. I always have some to swap out with the ones that are in use, because I plan to buy more 16 oz feeders. You want to make sure they have the food when it's cold or windy. I can put up more if I am away from home for a few days. Territoriality, what about it? The hummers fought over the feeders a lot. At one point, I had as many as 13 feeders up. Some hummers would claim two feeders as their property and thus have a hard time getting food, even though there were lots of feeders. The social dynamics of the hummers seem to have changed, as they are sharing the large feeders. It's not excessive for them to be built with so many holes because I have seen 8 of them feeding on a Juegoal. I keep a few of the larger ones up around the house because I think they will attract the most territorial of the hummers and facilitate sharing of the big feeders. I have seen the social dynamics change over the course of a fall-spring season and so far so good, so I won't be surprised if they start to fight over the big feeders. It's likely that any hummingbird fan has seen videos of hummers in tropical climates where they are so abundant that they swarm the feeders, which is a sign that sharing happens when their population gets big enough. I have not had a problem with bees. I have gotten a yellow jacket feeding off one of these, but only when I spill some of the liquid onto the outside of the feeders. Otherwise, no problem. I had one of these that was too big for you to put it full and it would spill out. I was able to adjust the hanging rod by bending it a bit.
100% satisfaction guarantee. Experts researched their products to eliminate all risks. You are deserving of the best. If you don't like the hummingbird feeders for any reason, they will give you a full refund.
👤I want to make it clear that window bird-feeders are not dangerous for birds. Birds are trying to escape their prey or are unfamiliar with the area when they collide with windows. Birds will be less likely to try to escape through your window if you place a feeders in the middle of your window. I have not had any issues with the hummingbirds. There was some work to be done. You have to use the supplied screws to put them in the cups. Don't strip the cups, but screw until tight. You can put the mounting bar on your window and rest the ant-guard on it. If you don't have a screwdriver, this installation only takes about 1 minute. A long delay may be caused when installing this feeder in an area that has never had afeeder. It took three weeks for the first bird to show up. It took another two weeks for a second bird to become a regular. People will notice the food source more often once there is one bird on it. I had to keep replacing it with fresh food. I put enough in so they would have something to eat, and waited to fill it until the first few birds came back. If you left this out, the bird might not come back often enough for you to see them. Keep it fresh by having patience. This is a top-notch feeder. The plastic is very strong and thick. It will be able to handle all year round rain in Oregon. The cups are large and adequate, but mine were a little too small from being squeezed in a bag during shipping. You can let them sit in the warm water for a few minutes to get their shape back. Rub the cup on your nose after you dry them. The oils from your nose will help plug cracks and prevent air loss that would cause the cup to fail. The cup will stay up for a long time if you put it on a window. The mounting system is the first thing I like about this design. There is a piece of plastic that holds the cups. You can choose to hang the ant-guard on the cups. It drops onto the window mount. It's a trough that holds a half-cup of water and will keep ants from getting to your sugar. It is a small ache since the water quickly evaporates in the summer. The window mount allows you to easily lift the feeder out to refill it, even if you don't use the ant-guard. I left the ant-guard intact, but empty, since I haven't had any issues with ants. I have had honeybees that can smell the syrup, but they can't get down to the syrup fast enough, so they don't cause any problems. You can leave the feeders out in the cool weather for a few weeks. In hot weather, mold can form in the feeders or the syrup can ferment. You can throw the syrup in the dishwasher when it becomes floaties, because you can lift the mount and throw it in the dishwasher. If you don't have a window screen, you may be able to remove the feeders from inside. Attach the feeder to the window that doesn't slide. I can reach up to the window and grab it, then lift it out. The first floor is where my feeders are and it prevents me from having the push through my plants to get to them. Someone on a second or higher story would be able to service the feeders from inside the house. See the picture. The lid is firmly closed. It is difficult to open. It's nearly impossible to remove the feeder. That is a positive thing. You have to lift a lot to get the lid open. The lid can be removed if you open it too far. If this happens, you just have to place it at the hinges at a 135 degree angle and then pop the lid back into the hinges. The syrup is in the feeder. You can see how much sugar is in the measurement on the side. It's much easier to just mix 4 cups of boiling water with 1 cup of sugar and store it in a 2 liter bottle than it is to mix 6.4 ounces of water with 1.6 ounces of sugar. If it's really hot, I just dump the feeder, wash it, and refill it with fresh syrup. If it doesn't go empty sooner. The hummingbirds will often poop as they fly away. If you have a pretty surface under the feeders, it may need regular cleaning. I've had issues with some of the birds pooping on the ant-guard, which is a full half-inch away from the perch. I don't have to deal with the poop issue because I have mine over flowers. The ant-guard can be put in the dishwasher. There is no sound when the birds land. It's more likely that I'll hear them buzzing around fighting over the feeders, or their chirps as they arrive, then they make any noise against the feeders as they perch. It can be difficult to approach the window with the feeders because there is no top section. One approach is to walk slowly, or only move when they can't see you at all. You will be harder to see if you turn off the interior lights. If you have blinds, you can lower them and rotation them so they are slightly open. It's easy to walk up to the window and look between the slats to see the birds. Regulars won't leave unless there is sudden movement in your home, and will grow accustomed to it over time. It's not uncommon to be able to slowly walk to the window with birds that have been feeding at the feeders for weeks, and watch them from up close. The hummingbirds are more tolerant of observation than finches and sparrows. The only negatives to this feeder are: 1. The birds are often back-lit. They are often in the shadows of the house, while everything in the background is sunny. It's difficult to take pictures of birds in the feeders when the sun is overhead. The surroundings look lush and well-lit, so pictures usually come out underexposed. See the picture. I've had better luck with the room lights on. The flash photos are complete failures, with the pre- flash lights scaring the birds right off. I would rather have mediocre close-up pictures of birds. It is difficult to catch the metallic reflections of hummingbirds, so they seem more dull. If the feeders are in the shade, the female Anna's that fly in green with hints of pink on their necks are mostly brown. Your installation may get better lighting. 2. The volume of the feeders is low. I don't know how the enormous quart sized feeders can go bad in strong heat. The birds can't drink the contents of the feeders before the syrup starts to ferment. The syrup is very hot in the sun. It is common for the birds to come between 2-6pm and hop from hole to hole testing each one and flying off, no doubt upset at the inability to drink 120 degree syrup. Larger feeders would heat up more slowly due to their increased mass. I'm very pleased with this feeder. I'm sad it took me so long to find it because it's my favorite hummingbird feeders. I highly recommend it.

Click the button to add the item to your cart, and you will be on your way to enjoying nature from the comfort of your home! A unique design makes it easy to use and a one-of-a-kind look makes it a favorite for both you and the hummingbirds. Multiple hummingbirds are attracted to four feeding ports. Wide opening makes filling and cleaning easier. For a more thorough cleaning, leak-free flowers should be removed. The dishwasher safe is top-rack.
👤My hummingbirds don't try feeders. I have had the "test tube" feeders for months and have to change them daily. I replaced the tubes with this one because a neighbor said it works well. My hummers don't use it at all. I was trying to protect my hummers from the bees, but I am disappointed because the bees like the test tubes. Live and learn. I painted the lid red on this feeders, and it now gets regular visits from hummingbirds. What an easy fix.
👤This is a small feeder. It is easy to clean and the hummers prefer it. I have to refill it twice a day. There is no leaking and insects don't bother it. The flowers have faded to pink after 3 months of use. Replacement flowers should be sent by the company.
👤It will last one summer, be aware. I bought for the summer of 2020. It lasted about a month when I put it up for the summer of 2021. The red points faded quickly. They weren't attracted to the red anymore. There was no longevity in my experience. A one summer feeder went to the garbage. I wish they sold replacement red points because it was a unique and great feeder my hummingbirds enjoyed but only for one summer. A Mason Jar was made into a Hummingbird Feeder. I liked the first. I have many hummingbird visits so I bought a second one. The glass is strong. The smaller size is better for the hummingbird drink. The drink in my larger feeders can be wasted if it sits too long in the warm weather. I have noticed that the feeder prevents that from happening. The design is beautiful. The length of the hook is perfect for the feeder, so there is no need to worry. The plugs are bright. I had a hummingbird siting within 30 minutes of hanging it. The instructions were securely packaged with the feeder. I was so happy when I took it out of the box. It is easy to clean despite the size. I realized with my first fill that I overfilled it as some drink began to come out of the holes. I took pictures to show how attractive it is. The quality is better than the price I paid. This is the type of feeder you are looking for. I recommend! Happy feeding and watching the beauty that comes with summers in NY!
👤The smaller size makes it easy to clean and fill. There is a The color of the flowers has completely faded after 2 1/2 months of use, which did not affect the hummers coming to eat. The flowers are getting old.
👤If you get a lot of hummers, this 4 ounce capacity feeders is not for you. One of the three small feeders I have is perfect for a few birds and random visits, and is much smaller than the large feeders I use. It's simple and well designed. The rough edges of the drilled-hole openings will not hurt the birds. They are easy to remove for cleaning. If the glass edges start to abrade, the fit might get sloppy. Replacement florets are inexpensive. The cap is tight and the bail is thin, but they seem strong enough for the feeders. It's easier to clean than many hummer feeders. I changed out the feeders and the hummers kept coming.
You can mix the correct proportions with First Nature hummingbird concentrate. The 16oz. of hummingbird nectar is in a plastic container. Attaching branch, chain or hook with a metal hanger. The red base attracts hummingbirds. It's easy to clean and fill the Feeder completely with screws. The hummingbirds are fun to watch.
👤I bought these earlier in the season and wasn't happy when I saw the same product in my local dollar store. I assumed they would be plastic, but if I had known I would have saved myself the extra money and just bought them at the dollar store.
👤I'm glad I bought these, I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. These are perfect for the price. They aren't high quality hummingbird feeders made for heavy duty use in a bird sanctuary, but they are perfect for the little guys. I expect them to last several years unless the squirrels start attacking them. Good purchase!
👤My hummers don't like to perch in these because they don't have a place for them to perch like their old one did, and they don't have a place for them to eat. These were supposed to replace the one that broke. I would have a back up feeder in case one got messed up, but these are useless if my hummers don't approach them. I saw one of my birds sitting in a tree this morning and I thought it was a bad idea to hang a mediocre feeder. These are not up to my standards and I will have to find a better duo.
👤I love these and my hummies too. I keep the bottle in the fridge so my friends can have fresh nectar when I switch off every 4 days in the heat. I can't live without my Amazon, it is a real help. It's a good thing.
👤There are leaks and ants. They leak in multiple spots because they are so flimsy. I tried to return the hummingbird feeders I bought. Since I bought them through a seller and not directly from Amazon, I was being charged $6 to return them to the seller, which is not worth it. I threw away the $8 and now have 2 feeders that will not attract anything other than ants. The leaks were attached with 2 photos.
👤These feeders are not frills. They hold 2 cups of syrup. Some reviewers said that these are flimsy. I don't see any reason to complain about it since I only paid $8 for the pair. They work well and don't leak. The hummingbirds seem to like the quality of the drink.
👤This product does what it is supposed to do. I don't think it will last very long in our climate because it's composed of a very light plastic. The price is low, so that's okay. If a person is not careful, the bottom red piece can come apart if they are not careful. The container fell to the ground when it separated from the top red part. I will see if it can be put back together once I retrieve it from the shrub. I have had hummingbird feeders that cost a lot more that fall apart quicker than this product. I'm not complaining. I knew I wouldn't get anything better than I've had before, even though I paid for it.
Comes with a mount. The hummingbirds are attracted to the bright red color. First Nature hummingbird feeders are the easiest feeders to clean. Several hummer's will be accommodated at a time with the feeding ports. You can mix the correct proportions with First Nature hummingbird concentrate.
👤Just got this in the mail and need to be warned about the packaging. The two bottom pieces are locked together. The unlocked position is on the left, and the locked position is on the right. It was subtle, but critical. I didn't even think to check, as I spent an hour wiping up sticky nectar from my floor, rug, counters, and cabinets. I got several hummingbirds when I hung it outside. It has a small profile, but holds a lot of liquid. If you know about the bottom ahead of time, this feeder should be great.
👤The ease of cleaning made me happy. The weather got hot and I found out that the feeder has a design flaw. The plastic bottle has a red cap on it. The bottle is not secure in the hot weather because the cap does not snap onto it tightly. The cap expands and the bottle shrinks as the temperature climbs into the 80s. I have two feeders that they both use. This product was very unhappy with me.
👤The Hummingbirds never had clean water. It was always ridden by an individual. I hated cleaning it on a daily basis. I saw this contraption and it was beautiful. I was skeptical about this working. Why not find a way around the moat so that ants don't get everywhere? Well, they definitely tried and failed. Is that my picture? I like dead ants or in the process of drown. I'm going to order a second tulip killer because my first one works so well. Thank you first nature!
👤This is a wonderful feeder. I saw my first hummingbird after filling it with nectar. It is very easy to assemble and disassemble. I have had no issues with ant, the moat on top does a great job and I have had no problems with it. There are no problems with insects in the area. Sometimes Hummingbirds will start with one port and try the other until they reach it all the way around. Some birds like to perch and others like to stay in the air, the rest bar is nice. I have hummingbirds at this feeders at least once a day. I have had this for a month. I love it! A female Ruby-Throated Hummingbird flies in and lands on the wire I have my feeders hanging from, and I have a video of her eating from it. The little lady is enjoying the food.
👤This is a great place to put food. It comes apart for easy cleaning so no mold can build up. I had 7 hummers at one time at their feeding trough. They seem to like it on the deck railing more than the one under the eves.
👤We bought two of them. They are plastic, but they work well. No issues, no leaks. It is easy to take apart and clean. I thought we didn't have hummingbirds in our area, but within 2 days we had many. I like the small size. It is a good time to clean them since they are pretty much out of nectar. There is no interest from bees or wasp in this area. The one hanging in a tree is fine, but the one we keep on the deck rail is an ant trap. I clean these outdoors with the hose because the hummingbirds don't mind. No ants were brought into the house. I'm amazed by the reviews. I don't think it would cross someone's mind to put this in the dishwasher or near boiling sugar water. It is cheap plastic. Not to mention the tag that came with the dishwasher that said not to place it in the dishwasher if you have shirred water. Maybe people want to clean it up. They are bird feeders. If you see a black mold on the thing, just wash it and wipe it off. If you are in a rush and making your own food, you don't need to drink water. The water and sugar melt fine when I bring it to about 112 degrees. It can be poured into the feeders immediately.

👤I caught a hummingbird that was hungry. He loves resting on the feeders for up to 2 minutes at a time. He is a very happy dinner guest and I am a very happy customer. I like that the feeders have 2 options to hang it. The window option is great for me because I live in an apartment and my fiancée can watch hummingbirds from his office window.
👤This is the best hummingbird feeders I have ever owned. The design is easy to assemble and clean. The company is small and stands behind its products. The communication with customers is excellent. You have been looking for a hummingbird feeders. I promise you!
👤This was a cool idea. I was stuck on cups after cleaning my window. The mounted feeder was empty for a few days. I filled the feeders but it fell off my window and broke. It was not windy. During that time, not one hummingbird came to this feeders, they all went to my other feeders. I left a 1 star review and a new feeder showed up in my mail. That is great customer service. I have increased my review to 3 stars. I'll see if this one stays on the window. I already have several nice hanging chain feeders, so I'm not interested in one. Hopefully this one stays in the window.
👤I have been feeding hummingbirds for a while now. It's my favorite thing to do. I had a small food container. I had a lot of problems with insects. I was looking for a solution and found it on this product. It's easy to install. It is insect resistant and you just need to fill up the moat. My birds love their feeders. I will update the review with more pictures when I get the chance. This product is very good and I would highly recommend it.
👤My hummers didn't listen to it. They said to be patient. I washed it thoroughly four times as it soured. I waited. There was nothing except some bees. I have a lot of feeders and it might have looked weird to them. I will not return it. I will try again next spring. I assume that if the rains were flat, they would just fill it and make it worse. I'll give it away if there's nothing else to happen. Maybe another group of hummers will figure it out. I haven't tried it on a window yet. Hanging from a deck hook, an eve and a tree didn't get much attention, even though I don't have windows that are good for it. I'm adding an addition to my review because of amazing customer service. I've been given some great ideas to try to get my hummers to check out the feeders. The company cares about their product and has success with it. I am confident that I can do more with a little more effort. I think I tried too many in my attempt to get bees away from my feeders. The poor little dears were probably overwhelmed. The window attachment is on the other side of the house.
It holds up to 10 ounces of nectar. There are wonderful colors that attract hummingbirds. Each product is handmade and unique, which can be proved by the small bubbles on its surface. All-round care for birds. The base has perch for hummingbirds to rest and ant moats that are lead-free. The base is leak-proof and easy to assemble, fill, and clean. The materials are recycled. The item is made from recycled materials.
👤This is one of the prettiest hummingbird feeders I have ever purchased. Why are you asking for 3 stars? There is a design flaw that can hurt the hummingbird. I found out about this when I posted a video on our community chat forum of a hummingbird sitting on a perch. I don't understand why it stopped drinking from this particular feeders when all my other feeders had so many birds feeding. Someone from the community mentioned that they can cut a hummingbird's tongue. She said to check the underside of the feeding ports to see if they were made of metal or rubber. The flower feeding port was made of metal, not rubber, after I turned the bottom metal part upside down. They put a metal tube in the middle of the flower and then cut it to keep it from falling out. I felt metal pieces on my finger. I was not going to put this out again until I fixed it. I removed the metal tubes from the flowers after taking off the metal base. The plastic replacement tube I bought on Amazon was the metal ones. The manufacturer should figure out a way to make the metal not have sharp pieces that can cut the hummingbirds tongue. Thanks.
👤I own a lot of items that are hand blown glass, none of them have a look. This is not what they are selling. I pay for something and I expect to get what I pay for, so I want my money back. Not a piece of junk made in China. The way this is presented makes it sound like it is made by hand. They continue to lie through their teeth after reviewing multiple reviews. The bottle shown is not a beer. The colors on the bottle are sprayed on and do not cover the whole bottle, only part of the two casted halves.
👤The color attracts the hummingbirds. The glass container is a great size and perfect for cups. It's important to keep food fresh. I make my own sugar water by boiling 3 cups water with 1 cup sugar. Then add to the feeder every week, because there is no chemicals or dyes added. Make sure to tip from side to side to get bubbles. I would have given 5 stars but the top of the base is rusted and I can't find a plastic replacement so I have to buy another cheap one. If it came with a plastic base and flowers, I would buy it again. The company gave me a partial credit for the base, so I'm waiting to see if the cheap one will fit.
👤The feeders are beautiful. My mother loves watching the 3 hummers that we have this year. She keeps an eye out for them all day because she has a rocker in front of the window. The feeders are all day long.
👤I swear, this feeders brings all the birds to the yard. I've seen hummingbirds bring their friends to get a drink. It's insane that there are so many hummingbirds. I picked up a cheapo one from a local big lot because of the foot stand, but I have noticed that hummingbirds prefer this one. The birds can drink and rest at the same time. I want to enjoy the view with my cat. It took less than a day for a hummingbird to spot the feeders, and I was getting several hummingbirds at a time. The bird will perch on the stand while drinking. The colors on the feeders are beautiful. The feeder is easy to clean.
It holds 10 ounces of nectar. There are 8 feeding ports for the 12 ounce nectar. The built-in ant moat was designed to not allow crawling insects to pollute the water. The hanging rod can be hung on a tree. Cleaning and filling is very easy with the Juegoal cover.
👤This is the second one I've purchased. The hummingbirds love to drink from this. I have tried other types of feeders but they seem to prefer this one. I like the well. It helps to keep the ants out. Sometimes the hummingbirds can become territorial because there are many ports and more than one hummingbird can feed at a time. I have two feeders in the back yard and one in the front. Problem solved! hummingbird "juice." The normal ratio of sugar to water was not adequate. The new ratio is closer to what the hummingbirds get from flowers. To get 1/3 of the water. Only regular white sugar is used. You will have happy "hummers" who come back often. Enjoy!
👤When the air is hot, the sugar water doesn't come out. There is a The built in ant moat has a rest ring so they can perch. I can see when it needs to be filled. I have a minimum of 8 feeders most days and it holds 12 ounces. I'm not sure if the lack of yellow is the reason this feeders doesn't draw bees as quickly as other "pie plate" feeders.
👤I like the look of this feeder. I will get my issue out of the way first. This allows you to see birds that you might miss with a traditional upright feeders. Anna's are very aggressive. The ability to see birds I didn't see on a standard feeders in my yard means bully hummingbirds can see them. There is more cover to sneak in undetected with the upright feeders. That is an issue. Proper placement can mitigate this. If you have birds, this may increase your enjoyment. The easiest way to clean is this one. I prefer the traditional gravity feeders. These are still not nice to look at. Look at the pictures. Function: The liquid is lower than gravity so you don't want to have beaks in the nectar. You can top them off without pouring liquid out of upright feeders. I would recommend these to anyone who is interested. These feeders tend to get mold in them faster than other feeders. I'm an advocate of keeping fresh liquid in there, and they are easier to clean, but sometimes life delays you and these get hit harder than other feeders with mold/souring, especially in the summer. This can make the birds not want to go to the feeders. I will not buy this kind again because I see the advantages and why people like it.
👤Yellow jackets chased the hummers away from the feeders. It took about a week for the jackets to realize they couldn't get any honey from the full feeder. The hummers have returned after they gave up. It's good! We have Anna's here in western Oregon year round.
👤This is a great place to put food. I have always used the Hummzinger feeder. I like this one even better and the price is better. The hummingbirds took to it immediately. It is easy to clean and fill.
It is not made for other brands. There is a glass nectar reservoir. The feeding ports are 8-Nectar.
👤I hung these feeders up about 10 days ago and there were hummingbirds on them. The feeders are popular with the hummers but they don't seem to feed them well unless I tap the glass bottles with my finger. There is a glub, which is an inch or two of the liquid from the bottles into the bases. Is there enough for me to force it by tapping on the bottles? The hummingbirds don't stay long if I don't do that. The threads on one of the bottles are not straight. The bottle is in the base. As it hangs, the base is slanted. It looks odd, but Hummingbirds don't seem to mind. These feeders are popular with ants. Be sure to buy ant guards.
👤The price was made in the USA. The price was the best. These look like plain things. They work well. It is the perfect size for me, no leaks, the hummers took right to it. I live in a warm climate. I like to change my homemade concoctions on a daily basis. These little birds need to stay healthy. This is the perfect place to put it. I burp it to make sure there is enough food in the base. I want them to have plenty of food before they leave. They are not the prettiest feeders out there, but they function perfectly. They are giftable to friends that are passionate about feeding birds. The perch is perfect. Most of the feeders have that feature. Oh yes. They are made in the USA.
👤In the summer, we have to empty and change the nectar every two days, so having a small resevoir is helpful. They are easy to clean. You can hang them in more places because they are small. The hummers love them. They prefer the kind where they need to keep flying. They are not as pretty as some, but they are the best.
👤I already have two 16oz sizes of this feeders. They are easy to clean, and the bases are interchangeable between the 8 and 16 ounce sizes. I like the 8oz more because I never fill the 16oz. I replenish them every 4-5 days, depending on bird traffic. The bases are designed to prevent bees and ants, which has always been a challenge with any other feeders I've purchased. I will not buy plastic vessels, metal or flowers because they are hard to clean and seem to ruin the nectar faster. These are glass bottles with plastic bases. These feeders are better for the hummingbirds. You don't need to waster your money on nectar. It takes minutes to make it yourself, 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, shake or stir.
👤I live in a warm climate and have hummingbird residents year-round. I got these feeders for the smaller glass bottles because they were less wasted and insulated better on hot days. The US made which is a bonus. Cleaning the feeder parts is easy. The hummies took less than 10 minutes to start drinking. The weather guard is made by JCs Wildlife. There are large-weather-covers on the Amazon.com website.
